Il Palco, a tiny bar “hidden” in the heart of Mestre (Venice) citycenter, only a stone’s throw away from Piazza Ferretto. Mestre may, culturally, not have as much to offer as the historical city center in the lagoon, but when it comes to clubbing and eating you’ll be better off in Mestre.
Il Palco, that considers itself a culture/literature café, offers not only Venetian cicheti and aperitivi but also cultural events and live music (best check their Facebook Page as the homepage hasn’t been updated in quite a while). Furthermore, you can also have lunch and dinner (though never tried before).
What is really fascinating about this bar, and in my opinion sets il palco apart from other concurrents, is the design concept and the creative decoration: lunch and dinner are served on the palco („stage“), on tables and seats of different colors, sizes and styles. On the “spectator level” you’ll find some comfy sofas and cube seats to enjoy your aperitivo and, really Italian style, a tiny buffet with free snacks (chips or pizza or …).
For me one of the best places in the city to enjoy a Spritz with your partner or friends.
How to get there With one of the busses stopping at/in the surroundings of the commercial center Le Barche (for example the bus stops Piazza 27 Ottobre/Carducci/Cappuccina, …): From Venice: N1 (nightbus from/to Venice), 40, 12L, 7, 7L, 4L, 4,2
Prices: Standard. We payed, for example, 5€ for a Spritz and a Hugo.
