In case you’ve already been to Venice, you’ll have certainly ascertained that there are nearly no green spaces and gardens to be seen. The only exception is Castello with it’s Giardini (where the Biennale takes place), a public park that has been established under the reign of Napoleon.
If you happen to be around the Giardini you shouldn’t miss the Café La Serra („greenhouse“): This greenhouse-café offers a lot of seating space outside in the garden (and some tables inside, where you can also buy some “souvenir plants”) and is managed by a local NPO that organizes also activities for kids all year round (and a New Year’s Eve dinner too).
