Fujiyama: Japan in Venice

I don’t know how you feel about it, but I’m a real „teajunkie“ (my newest is a macha tea ceremony set) and thus, when I came to know about this tea saloon/b&b I just had no other choice: I just had to go there and have a look.

The Fujiyama is located in the sestiere Dorsoduro, only a stone’s throw away from Campo San Barnaba and thus the Ca‘ Rezzonico. The location is, as nearly everywhere in Venice (an exception are the sumptuous palazzi), very tiny. But what really makes the difference is the yard/garden at the backside of the caffè: here you can enjoy calmness and tranquility amidst one of the most touristic cities in Europe/world. Kind of a tiny oasis …

The choice of different teas is amazing too. You will find everything you wish for, served in original Japanese/Chinese tea pots and cups. Just lovely! I tried one of the teaflowers, Stella di Gelsomino (“Jasmin Star”): very good and also beautiful to look at.

There’s also a 4 room b&b, located on top of the caffè (you already guessed it: breakfast is served in the tea saloon). Unfortunately I wasn’t able to have a look at it (as the b&b was sold out), but the owner told me that it’s possible to have a look at the rooms on Google Maps. The prices too (depending on the season) are, in my opinion, very good as some of the main sights (Ca‘ Rezzonico, Accademia, Santa Maria dei Frari, …) are only a few minutes walk away: Single Room 60 Euro – 130 Euro Double Room 72 Euro – 160 Euro
