The Al Vapore is one of the all time well-visited bars in Mestre (or better, Marghera), even though the location is not one of the most prestigious ones as the bar is „hidden“ at the beginning of the Via Fratelli Bandiera in the industrial zone Marghera that – as night falls – is lined with lightly dressed girls in high shoes.
But even though the immediate surroundings aren’t inviting to a romantic walk, a visit to the bar is nevertheless worth it, as the bar/restaurant offers very good cocktails, snacks (club sandwich, focacce, piadine, …) and live music: Here you’ll find international artists who entertain every week the Venetian public; for free!* You can find the program on the homepage of the Al Vapore.
In case you pass you’re summer holiday in Venice, don’t miss to order the house cocktail, the „Vaporino“. So yummy. (Why in summer? Well, it’s prepared with strawberries.)
How to get there
By bus:
Bus Nr. 6 from Piazzale Roma (Venice) – first stop after the viaduct that leads to Marghera (shortly before leaving the viaduct to Marghera, you will see the Inail building on your left handside)
Bus Nr. 10 (Asseggiano – Mestre FS – Ca’ Sabbioni) – first/last stop after/before the viaduct (depending on where you come from)

Nightbus (to Venice): N1 (stop in front of the trainstation Mestre FS), N2 (stop in the via Rizzardi, Hotel Vienna or Hotel Lugano)
From the trainstation Mestre FS (5-10 min):
Opposite the trainstation (to the right of the Plaza Hotel, at the beginning of the via Dante) you find an underground passage to Marghera. Arrived on the other side, you have to turn left and follow the viaduct: You’ll immediately see the Al Vapore on your right handside.
