I passed this church at least a dozen of times and never entered it as I always found its doors closed. So, one day, when I found its doors wide open, I decided to finally have a look inside and was astonished when I realized that the pompous interior has nothing to envy to the major churches in Venice.
An artistic masterpiece
Sometimes a less known church can hide a unique treasure, in this case the largest ceiling painting in the world, 443 square meters of artistic genius.
What do you think where this artistic masterpiece is hidden in the city on the water?
In the Saint Mark’s Basilica? In the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute? In the church of the Frari?
Actually the painting honors the Saint Pantalone and is thus located in the church San Pantalon near the Campo Santa Margherita.
