Dorsoduro was shaped by humble Venetian citizens, the fishermen first and then the workmen of the industrial Venice and is thus representing a counterpole to the pompous Saint Mark’s Square.

Discover Dorsoduro starting from Piazzale Roma. You will pass the former seat of world famous Briati glassfactory before reaching the Church of San Nicolò dei Mendicoli and the IUAV university located in a former fabric. From here you will continue to the Church of Saint Sebastian, finishing the tour in Campo San Barnaba where some famous movies were shot.

During this walk alongside the maze of Venetian canals, “cross-country” through calm and idyllic squares, we will discover the hidden corners and the history of Dorsoduro.

You will see the industrial Venice where motley glass chandeliers were born, tabacco and cotton were processed, before proceeding to the former heart of the fishermen community.
