New article: New Year’s Eve 2015/2016 in Venice

This year I stared my internet research to figure out what to do on New Year’s Eve a bit earlier and decided to publish the most original ideas here:

Cenone di San Silvestro in Barca: New Year’s Eve Dinner on the water

Can you imagine something more spectacular than a dinner on board of a ship, cruising through the Venetian laguna and enjoying the fireworks at midnight?

I found these agencies/prices for a New Year’s Eve boat tour:

Love 2015: Riviera del Brenta.biz (€190/p.)

Love 2015: Michelangelotravel (€130/p.)

New Year Spa at the Villa Gasparini – Riviera del Brenta

This historical villa offers different New Year’s Eve packages: accommodation and dinner in a restaurant near the villa, a relaxed New Year’s Eve with massage and breakfast-buffet in your room (plus late check/out) the next day.

The New Year’s Eve packages of Hotel Villa Gasparini start from €140/p.

Serra dei Giardini: New Year’s Eve in a greenhouse. Why not?

I recommend this location (after having a short look at the program) to all those who have a good knowledge of Italian. The price for a New Year’s Eve dinner (21.00 – 24.00) amounts to about €45 and includes live concerts and cabaret. Reservation is necessary.

And on New Year’s Day?

The Venetians indulge in a quite „northern“ tradition: New Year’s Swimming. Practically, a bunch of Venetians (old and young) meet up early in the morning (10.30) on January 1st hurling themselves into the floods of the venetian lagoon at the BlueMoon Beach (Lido), accompanied by the sounds of Strauss. Afterwards, the warm up consists in Cotechino with lentils and wine. This event is not only thought for those who recently discovered their Scandinavian roots – yes, in winter it`s getting quite cold here in Venice too – but also for the youngest who will be entertained by artists (to distract them from a mum/dad who’s hesitating to hurl herself/himself into the sea?).
